Hong Kong 2018: teenager Dayana Yastremska wins maiden title
Dayana Yastremska. You probably never heard about her before, but you’ll hear more from her in the years to come. The 18-yr old from Odessa, Ukraine, defeated Fanny Stollar, Zheng Saisai, Kristina Kucova, and Zhang Shuai, without dropping a set, to reach her first final on the WTA Tour. She dispatched sixth seed Wang Qiang, 6–2, 6–1 to lift her first trophy.
Wimbledon junior runner-up in 2015 (l. to Anastasia Potapova), she is coached by Olivier Jeunehomme, from the Justine Henin Academy.






Sam Stosur and Zhang Shuai captured the doubles title, defeating Shuko Aoyama and Lidziya Marozava in the final.

Update Februray 2019: Dayana is on a roll since her Hong Kong triumph. She reached the Luxembourg Open semifinals (l. to Bencic), ousting Garbine Muguruza in the second round. She then went on to reach the third round at the Australian Open and win her second career title at the Thailand Open, after victories over Arantxa Rus, Peng Shuai, Garbine Muguruza, Magda Linette and Ajla Tomljanovic.
She is now ranked 34. A young player to follow.
