Tonight sees the re-opening of Nike 1948, an east London concept store that originally opened in 2008 with the aim of fusing sport and culture.

The new 1948 stocks the best Nike footwear and apparel available, and has been intelligently designed to allow communities to make use of the space and to allow Nike to inspire Londoners to play and love sport through via cultural experiences, installations, screenings and events.
An ongoing calendar of sports-inspired creative programming will see 1948 play host to some of London’s best artistic originators, starting with a tennis themed takeover.

On 30 June a new 1948 iPad app, which takes the form of a digital magazine, will also be launching. The first issue features tennis star Rafael Nadal on the cover and will revolve around the theme of tennis and Wimbledon.

The iPad App replicates the full 80 page tournament program guide and adds a few of the cool things you’d be expecting from a grand slam event app, like live news, live scores, plus player, celebrity and fan tweets, game schedules, current weather updates, ticketing information, foursquare check-ins and video highlights updated all day long and a pretty cool autograph scrapbook for players to sign.
It also features the “Tournament Talk”, a visualisation of all the live tweets as they come in.
