Rafa Nadal on Spain’s World Cup win: I cried like a little boy

Rafael Nadal was in Johannesburg to watch the Spanish defeat the Netherlands in an ill-tempered final, with Andres Iniesta finally scoring in extra-time to give the la Furia Roja the trophy.

I cried like a little boy. We have to celebrate for a whole year, because this is unbelievable. It is very difficult to repeat this. It will be crazy at home. Imagine, I was watching the semi-finals in Mallorca and I felt amazing. The whole country must be very proud.

Spain lost in Davis Cup quarters against France, but it was Rafa’s last thing on his mind.

During the Davis Cup final last year, Adidas had a campaign featuring Fernando Verdasco, and some players of La Roja, the Spanish national football team.

I guess tonight Verdasco, Nadal and co will all be in front of their TV to watch the World Cup semifinal between Spain and Germany.

And in case you were wondering what Verdasco was up to after his defeat in Wimbledon… he was on vacation with his boyfriend Feliciano Lopez in Ibiza.
