First match on Center Court on day 1: Lopez-Tomic, a nice opposition of playing styles between Lopez, the left-handed serve and volley player and Tomic the counter-attacker.

This match could have gone either way but at the end the player who produced more game (and some nifty volleys too) won: Feliciano Lopez outlasted Bernard Tomic 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-1).

Hommage to Mats Wilander, Barcelona Open 2013

Organizers of the Barcelona Open paid tribute to Mats Wilander, who won the tournament three years in a row (1982, 1983, 1984) and lost twice in the final (1985, 1987).

Wilson is revamping its footwear line for 2013 with the introduction of the Rush Pro shoe for men, women and juniors.
The Rush pro features:
– a three dimensional TPU-injected forefoot piece for superior responsiveness, maximum acceleration and controlled deceleration
– a Dynamic Fit 6mm heel-toe drop for lateral stability and low-to-the-ground court feel, eliciting a quicker reaction
– and Endofit, a full construction inner sleeve for enhanced comfort and intuitive fit.

The men’s model is available in four colorways: blue/white/silver, white/grey/gold, lime/black and black/orange. The women’s shoe is offered in blue/white/silver and white/green.

Anne Keothavong, Phillip Kohlschreiber and Feliciano Lopez are among the several tour players sporting this shoe in 2013.
