Kei Nishikori successfully defended his title by beating Pablo Andujar 6-4 6-4 in the final to win his ninth career title. The Japanese will be one of the players to watch at the upcoming French Open.
Marin Drahanja and Henri Kontinen defeated Jamie Murray and John Peers 6-3 6-7 11-9 to claim the Barcelona Open title. It’s their third win this year, following victories in Marseille and Zagreb.
Pablo Andujar upset fellow Spaniard David Ferrer, to reach the Barcelona Open final. Winner of three tournaments (Casablanca in 2011 and 2012, Gstaad in 2014) – Andujar will face Kei Nishikori in the final.
David Ferrer reached the final in Barcelona four times in the past, losing each time to Rafael Nadal.
