Rafa captures first US Open title, completes career Grand Slam

The final was postponed to Monday due to rain, but even more rested, Djokovic couldn’t do much to prevent Nadal from winning his elusive first US Open title.

With his 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 win over Novak Djokovic, Nadal became the seventh man in tennis history to complete a Career Grand Slam, and the second male player after Andre Agassi to complete a Career Golden Slam. Nadal’s Grand Slam total is already one more than Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi or Ivan Lendl won.

Nadal is also the first player to win the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open the same year since Rod Laver in 1969.
