Henri Leconte vs Carlos Moya

Henri Leconte

A really entertaining match, with the fanciful Leconte at his best: he interacts and jokes with the crowd and plays some incredible tennis. It was really Henri’s one man show.

Mats Wilander vs Richard Krajicek

A tight match between Wilander and Krajicek, and a beautiful opposition of styles. Krajicek wins 7-6 (5) 4-6 10-1 and qualifies for the Sunday’s final.

On Saturday, Forget won against Leconte and lost to Moya, and Wilander beat Borg in the battle of Sweden.

Krajicek lost to Moya in final in straight sets 3-6 2-6. Second title for the Spaniard on the Seniors Tour after his victory in Sao Paulo in May.

Carlos Moya

The third/fourth place play-off was won by Guy Forget, who beat former World No.1 Mats Wilander.

I really had a great time at the Optima Open and hope to come back next year.
Note for the tournament director: if you could invite Edberg, Rafter and Safin it would be even better!

Next stop of the Champions Tour: Chengdu, China for the third annual Chengdu Open at the Sichuan International Tennis Centre (October 27-30). The Trophée Lagardère was supposed to take place in Paris from September 30th to October 2nd but apparently it has been cancelled as it has completely disappeared from the ATP Champions Tour homepage.
